Installing Fedora 7

I downloaded the DVD X86_64 file by BT on Sunday, it took only less than 90 minutes to download all the 3.4G file. Well...

OK, begin installation. I selected "Office and Productivity" and "Software Development", and changed some rpms. there are too many softwares, and I did not know what could they do. So I clicked NEXT. All the installation took about two hours. I noticed many softwares had been installed several times, including the i386 and X86_64 versions, especially the rpms in the end, it was very very slow.

Fedora 7 include some softwares to access NTFS, it is very good for me.

But Fedora doesn't ship MP3 decoder, so I had to find one. I downloaded fluendo-mp3-1.x86_64 as Fedora said, and copied the file to the right directory, but it didn't work. I installed XMMS, but xmms hadn't decoder for MP3 either. I searched and searched... At last I found a plugin XMMS-MP3 in Livna. XMMS can play MP3 now. I also insalled gstreamer-plugin-bad/ugly, but they don't work. I don't know why.

Since they could do nothing, I decieved to delete the two plugins. On the other day I reinstalled them using yum, 10 softwares were installed totally. But the gstreamer softwares couldn't play MP3 yet. But later I found they could play MP3 in ROOT!

Now I find that some softwares can play MP3 when I turn its output into Gstreamer, and the other can NOT play bacause they base on XINE.
